With the impact of Covid–19 unravelling it is time for us as Rotarians to step up. Be kind, supportive and stay calm. Offer assistance where we can and support each other. How do we serve our community?

Blind Foundation guide dog puppy)
We raised $507 in our recent collection for guide dog puppy appeal.
Luci gets her puppy as a 9 week old and trains it until it is  16 months old. The training involves community education, socialising the puppy, taking it on busses, trains and around as many different situations as possible.
Luci also tutors children with learning difficulties and Zeva is a popular assistant.
At 16 months the dog is sent back for guide dog training proper. There is only a 30% success rate for the dog to become a blind assistance dog, however the ones that don’t make it are adopted as assistance dogs for which there is a 5 year waiting list.

A very worthy cause we support.
Raffle won by Andrew Knowles.
Sergeant -Ross Brown theme - Did you know?
Anxiety and depression are the most common causes of illness.
Women blink more times than men
You burn more calories sleeping than watching TV. Also the average adult will spend 25 years asleep. (wonder why some of us aren’t more skinny?).
Everyone has a unique tongue print.
Unless food is mixed with saliva it is tasteless.
The dot on the top of an i is called a tittle.
Hippopotamus kill 2,900 people per year, Snakes kill 100,000 but a little mosquito kills 695,000 people per year.

Editor’s note – True story
The other day I was walking past four people outside a business having a smoke. Over heard someone say – I’m worried about how this Covid-19 may affect my health …. Go figure!!

And finally….. Charles Dickens walks into a bar and asks for a martini. The bartender asks, "Olive or twist?"

Parting Thought from  Glenn Dougal
If you meet someone in a pub and take them home – choose wisely as you may be stuck together for 14 days.
