Notices & Announcements
Notice One –Michele, on behalf of Mary, remined us of the upcoming Guess Who’s Coming to dinner, on 8th and 15th August, and explained the concept (pot luck dinner with no advance notice of the hosts and guests). Donations from the dinner with go to Rotary young driver courses.
Notice Two – Ross: a reminder that the next Dementia NZ society collection will be at Fraser Cove on 5 September.
Notice 3-As most will know, the new Rotary Club in Ōmokoroa is a spin-off from the Katikati Rotary Club.
On the 8th August at 4:00pm, they are holding their Charter Celebration — a milestone event marking the official establishment of the club.
I believe that this is the first club to be chartered in the BOP for many years.
VIPs include:
Our district Governor (Janine Branson)
Katikati Rotary President (Frances Young and Bronwyn Webster-Hawke)
Scott Simpson (local MP)
James Denyer (Rotarian and Mayor of the WBOPDC)
The format is drinks and nibbles.
Ōmokoroa Club has supported our activities over the past year. They are struggling a bit for numbers, please attend this event if you are able.

Notice 4. Shiv told us that the key fobs for the Tauranga club entry are available from the club reception, just $10. If we all get them, there will be little need for members to do door duty. Also, we will be able to book carpark spots in the building.
Henry then introduced our speaker. None other than el Presidente. Steve started by explain that had been diagnosed as a larrikin early in his business career. Seems appropriate. He went over his rotary journey , with interesting cross references. Did you know that playing the piano was seen in Victorian days as being a safe way for ladies to express their sexual drives. Neither did I. Then a bit of serious stuff. This year we may see: a minimum of committee meetings and club admin discussions at breakfast meetings, increased social functions, a flagship fundraiser, and efforts to welcome more new arrivals in Tauranga at our club. Members joined in at various times, the best rejoinder was from Rosalie, who pointed out that she owns 3 pianos, and queried the significance of that fact.
Sergeant at Arms –Simon gave a rambling and hilarious session, explaining how he changed from being a Londoner, to a Scotsman 10 minutes after arriving at a new Scottish school, and then claimed that he was really a Frenchman in disguise, all with proper historical notes on the history of the Beatons.

Next Week’s Duties:
Hi everyone,
Just a friendly reminder that we will soon be charging the annual membership subscription of $335 per member to your Rotary account.
If you have a credit balance carried forward, you have two options:
Apply the credit towards this year's subscription payment, or
Donate the credit to our own Sunrise Rotary Trust or the International Rotary Foundation
We will also be emailing your latest account statement so you can see your updated balance after the annual subscription has been charged.
You're welcome to either pay your balance in full or spread your payments over the year on a monthly basis, whichever works best for you. While paying in full does help the club's cash flow, we understand that monthly payments may be more convenient for some members.
If you would like to donate your credit to The Rotary Foundation or have any questions about your statement, please let us know.
Thank you for your continued support of our club and the community charities that we support.
