Welcome - from President Indeevar who left Pat Taylor to introduce our guest speaker and his fellow Rotarian from Tokoroa Rotary Club, Johnny Dryden who has only been a Rotarian for 8 years and owns his own First Radio Central based in Tokoroa.

Club Culture and Leadership- More members left in the past year than joined. Important Club members engage with all other Club members and involve the whole team.
How do you judge a club’s contribution? On attendance? Project volunteer labour? Welfare checks? New member monitoring? Club officer role? Important to remember we all have something different to offer and that new members must be mentored and accept training. Have a growth plan focus and connect with our community by engaging members appropriately.
Show flexibility to members and acknowledge the worth of other members in our club and community.
Sell the Rotary features and benefits locally e.g. RYLA, Rotaract etc. Note: Future leaders are already waiting to be asked!
They can then learn the Rotary Way through the learning centre and be motivated to be club officers.
We must engage members to support club projects and be responsible for growth within our own club.

Johnny's aim is to have 100 new members in our District this year and mentioned a new Corporate Membership for 2-3 staff from various schools and companies to join us.

Wayne Shadbolt
Wayne spoke again about his involvement with the Tumanako Project involving the Lifezone Church in Judea which opens its doors every Thursday to provide breakfast to the homeless in our city. They also then have access to hot showers and laundry service. A free GP service is also provided by Dr Emma Stanley of Epic Health.
Kathy Webb
Kathy Webb mentioned her involvement with a reading project for younger children at
Otumoetai Primary. She is seeking volunteers to spend 30 mins weekly sitting with two children
reading a book and talking with them about it. If successful, the program may spread to other
schools.
Raffle
The wine was won by Lisa Phillips who generously offered her bottle of Vino to Johnny, but I noticed he rejected her kind offer.
Sergeant at Arms
Sergeant Deep had taken the time to present an excellent review of our imperfect but “still it’s ours!” Health system.
