Guest Speaker – Liz Flaherty from Social Link
Liz delivered an insightful presentation on Social Link, a not-for-profit organisation that supports local community groups and social service providers throughout our region. Social Link gathers and analyses data to help these organisations enhance their services, plan effectively, and secure funding. By engaging with people on the ground, they gain valuable insights that inform their work. The data they collect covers a wide range of topics, including population demographics, age groups, ethnicities, languages, disabilities, housing, employment, and education. Their motto is to "Enhance what organisations do in the community." Major funders of Social Link include TECT, Bay Trust, Acorn Foundation, Tauranga City Council, Western Bay of Plenty District Council, and Lotto.

Sergeant at Arms – Simon Beaton on Mortality
Simon spoke humorously about his current mortal state and his intended efforts to improve his health and fitness. He vowed to be less sarcastic, eat and drink less and lose weight! His presentation included a series of clever photos of road signs and signboards displayed via the projector, showcasing his wit and creativity (some of it lost in translation on some of our members!).
Parting thought from Barry Fredheim
Don’t look for luxury in watches or bracelets, villas or sailboats. Luxury is laughter and friends, rain on your face, hugs and kisses. Don’t look for luxury in shops, gifts, parties or events. Luxury is being loved by people, respected and your parents alive, playing with your grandchildren. Luxury is what money can’t buy. (Clint Eastwood at age 94 - but being a multi-millionaire, he can afford to say that)
Buddy is now awake for the national anthem.
