THE REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE TO WORK AS WE KNEW IT
The two years with Covid has and is, accelerating the change to work dynamics exponentially. Technology has and is changing the concept of work. (IT Robotics Drones etc)
Pre Pandemic
Our Government Fair Pay laws are taking us back into the dark ages. Our recent history pre pandemic we had an 8 to 5 workplace . One job per life time with a gold watch at the end. We have  had gradual change to work methods, only stayed in rolls for three to four years and we were less hierarchical
Pandemic
Began the International phenomenon of Lockdowns. Homebound. Travel stopped. Mental health issues increased. Productivity near zero .   Fear Fear  Fear!  Cocooning.  Government imposing martial law. Restricted in all aspects of life Lock downs-  go home and don’t work.
Post Pandemic
We now have reluctance to work, worldwide shortage of skilled labour, again Fear Fear  Fear  ! Working from home, ( only 40% of NZ can work from home)  Have and Have not’s gap widened. The balance of power moved to benefit employers.  Contract employment now favored by employers.  Labour costs escalating at dramatic levels, never seen before .  International labour shortages, fighting for skilled workers.  Business’s struggling to survive. Supply shortages , shipping problems.
Coming out of Pandemic
Workers not prepared to go to into work . Rather work from home or not at all. Trust issues. Limited workplace networking -   redesign of workplaces required.  Reluctance to go into common workplace and  remote locations in foreign countries
We need some government response to avoid an inevitable recession as production is way down. Our businesses are hurting, low production and low profits.  High inflation is going to affect all of us.

Speaker Thanks
Glenn gave thanks to Max for a remarkable insight into our workplace and the state of the nation’s employment etc.
